Each year, American Advertising Federation (AAF) chapters select one exceptional member of the community to receive the highest honor possible in the organization — the Silver Medal Award. Individuals are vetted based on their outstanding contributions to both advertising and corporate social responsibility within the industry. This year’s recipient, our CEO and creative director, Diana LaRue, has met and exceeded these requirements for her entire career.
For almost three decades, Diana has delivered brilliant marketing and advertising campaigns to national and international clients in a myriad of industries. And this has been accomplished while simultaneously leading numerous philanthropic efforts both in and out of this Orlando marketing agency. For her work in the advertising community, and the Central Florida community at large, she is undoubtedly a worthy recipient of this prestigious award.
To commemorate her success, Appleton Creative and AAF-Orlando collaborated to host a Silver Medal Award celebration at Snap! Orlando, a contemporary art gallery in Downtown Orlando. In addition to Diana’s family and friends, local advertising leaders were in attendance, including past Silver Medal Award winners, Barbara Scherer, Jim Hobart, Lon Winter, and our very own vice president of videography, Mike Speltz. Both Mike and Lon dedicated speeches to Diana, and perhaps the most memorable speech of the night came from Derricka White, Diana’s mentee, who spoke about the powerful impact their mentorship has had on her life.
All attendees were treated to a night of beautiful artwork, delicious Mediterranean food and pleasant company thanks to the generous sponsorship of Clear Channel, John Michael Exquisite Weddings and Catering, NCM CineMedia, Orange Appeal, Snap! Orlando and Zebra Coalition.
